post Road to Heaven

November 24th, 2007

I love this time of the year, fall. The trees look precious with all those colors: green, brown, yellow, red…I’ve been going to some places during the past few weekends to take some pictures. I have finally had some extra time to upload these. I hope you like them. More will come whenever I get the chance to work on more photographts. Till then, stay safe and enjoy Autumn.

post Van Gogh perdió la otra oreja

nos hemos cruzado, has decidido mirar,

Pasaron seis meses y me dijiste adiós,

post Leonor Watling & Marlango

Leonor Watling & Marlango

I saw her on the cover of Instyle Magazine last weekend, while I was out taking some pictures. She didn’t look like her at all, but she looked very pretty. I mean, she’s very pretty, but she looked different in that picture.

Leonor (Elizabeth Ceballos) Watling is one of those talented artists that can sing, dance, write songs, act… she can do everything and in Spanish and English. I didn’t know much about her until a friend of mine talked to me about this band called Marlango. My friend really liked their music and so, for her birthday I got us two tickets to attend a concert. I was impressed by their talent, their music and her voice.

I became interested in her career and soon after, I found myself watching some of her movies like: Hable Con Ella (Talk To Her), Mi vida sin mí (My Life Without Me) or La vida secreta de las palabras (The Secret Life of Words).

I recently watched Deseo (Desire) starring her and Leonardo Sbaraglia. They made quite a good pair, and the movie was good too. Talks about an Argentinian nazi (Sbaraglia) hiring a young lady (Watling) to do the chores at home. She’s the daughter of a communist doctor and against all odds, they end up falling in love with each other.

Anyway, Marlango has released a new cd and I hope to have the chance to see them in concert sometime soon. I haven’t been to a concert in ages!

This could perfectly be the title of the next romanctic-comedy blockbuster. I can even see it, starring either Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock as the lead star and hmmm, on the male side I would have to pick Mark Ruffalo. But it’s not the title of a movie, it’s something that recently happened in New York City. That’s the magic of life, it goes beyond fiction! I read on an article that a guy found the girl of his dreams while commuting in the subway. Apparently he didn’t dare to say anything to her, but he was so drawn to her that drew a detailed picture of her. Turns out, he found her! In a city of 8 million people, the guy found her! *Sigh* Somehow, this story sounds so familiar to me. Anyway, this gives me hope, I know there are still romantic and sensitive men out there. All this past week I’ve had the proof of that and I’m hopeful. All my best wishes to Patrick Moberg and Claire Hayton

post La sumisa insumisa - Rosa Peñasco

November 9th, 2007

I never thought I’d ever read a novel about BDSM (Bondage-Discipline/Domination-Sadism/Submission-Masochism), but this book landed on my hands two weeks ago and once I started it I could not leave it halfway. Ok, let me explain how I ended up receiving this book. There was a literary award show going on in my city and the books that had won the year before were given to us. Rosa Peñasco’s ‘La sumisa insumisa’ won the award for best novel last year and therefore, they gave me the novel. I was curious to see how she had approached the subject, it’s not easy to write about erotism or BDSM.

At first, I must admit I felt offended as human being, but especially as a woman, about what I was reading. I could not believe my eyes when I read that some women actually find it exciting to be humilliated like that, not just verbally (calling them names that I’m not going to write here) but physically as well. But I continued on reading it and fell in love with the character. Yes, the novel talks about BDSM and at times I really felt like closing the book and giving up… but I never give up, do I? I liked the characters, because deep down low they were lonely people seeking for company, deep down low that asshole that called her names, loved her and while they were not having sex, he treated her like a real lady. I fell in love with her character because she stood her ground and when you least expected it she surrendered to him.

The descriptions, feeling, emotions are very well written and approached. It’s hard, really hard, to write about feelings and emotions (you tell me!) and Rosa Peñasco did a magnificent job here. I could almost feel the pain, the pleasure, the loneliness they felt.

Original story, good writing.

PS: I apologize for all the possible mistakes on my post, I wrote this very quickly and never read it twice.

post No love making, please

I read on the newspaper that Singapore Airlines has banned its Airbus 380 suite passengers to make love while on-flight. Even though the suite is equiped with a big and comfortable bed, apparently, is not soundproof (ooops!) and if the couple made love their moans could bother the other passengers. Well… well… well… why would you want to fly on the suite if it’s not to make love there? I mean, to me that would be the whole point! We’ll always have those tiny, uncomfortable and dirty plane toilets, but, making it on a suite that is thousands of kilometres high… it’s kind of exciting, isn’t it?
